SUMMARY:Art Talks 1
DESCRIPTION:Art Gallery Theme: In Unruly Times\n\nAt SIGGRAPH Asia 2023, t
he Art Gallery will showcase works of excellence across the fields of art,
science, and technology inclusive of data visualisation, 3D printing, XR,
robotics, AI, sonic, performative, NFT and media/interactive installation
.\n\nUnruly as found in wild, disorderly, experimental, uncontrollable as
well as those freefalling out of control anxious moments spanning conflict
, climate crisis, pandemics, inequality, surveillance, financial and biosy
stem collapse for instance.\nTimes as in deep time, digital time, analogue
time, circular, ancestral, mechanical, felt time or as a finite resource.
These are times that call for an increasing need for practices to be sust
ainable, kinder, agile, and scalable and more inclusive of divergent voice
s and bodies and experimental unexpected processes.\n\nWe cordially invite
you to join us at the SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 Art Gallery in Sydney, Australia
as we question, play, and confront the unruly turbulent times in which we
live!\n\nCome and listen to the artist where they speak about their works
!\n\nLightSense - Long Distance\n\n'LightSense-Long Distance' links an int
eractive installation located at EPFL Pavilions in Lausanne with the audie
nce at SIGGRAPH in Sydney. It is a cyber-physical construction controlled
by a cloud-based AI system, which is able to engage in verbal conversation
s and to transform into immersive space...\n\n\nUwe Rieger and Yinan Liu (
University of Auckland, arc/sec Lab); Tharindu Kaluarachchi (University of
Auckland, Augmented Human Lab); Amit Barde, Huidong Bai, and Alaeddin Nas
sani (University of Auckland, Empathic Computing Lab); Suranga Nanayakkara
(National University of Singapore, Augmented Human Lab); and Mark Billing
hurst (University of Auckland, Empathic Computing Lab)\n------------------
---\nExquisite Corpus\n\nExploring the human organism in the absence of th
e visual bias of the flesh, Exquisite Corpus presents artificial, volumetr
ic radiological scans produced through machine learning blended medical da
ta to present chimeric, non-mendelian avatars of the human interior.\n\n\n
Kevin Blackistone (N/A)\n---------------------\nPlastic Landscape - The Re
versible World\n\n“Plastic Landscape - The Reversible World” is an AI-gene
rated 3D animated video design that shows the apocalyptic and surreal worl
d surrounded by artificial plastic mixtures and objects in the ocean, urba
n city, Antarctica, and forest. This new multi-sensory artwork addresses t

Kim (Yonsei University), and Hung Tsai (San Jose State University)\n------
---------------\nVisions of Destruction\n\n"Visions of Destruction" is an
interactive AI-aided artwork that uses viewer’s gaze to depict humanity's
environmental impact. Real-time transformations, facilitated by eye-tracki
ng and Stable Diffusion, echo the urgency of the climate crisis and serves
as an actionable call for environmental ...\n\n\nMar Canet Sola (Tallinn
university, Varvara & Mar) and Varvara Guljajeva (Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Hong Kong University of Science and Te

rk employs four decades of legacy satellite images and a novel algorithm t
o retro-analyse the dynamics of ICOLLs (Intermittently Closed and Open Lak
